UNESCO World Heritage Site: Wadden sea near Moddergat.
Image one: the woman holding the child is a monument for the women who lost their husbands at sea.
Image two: what the two persons do can be right suicide, the ground can turn into quicksand. Tourists who have no idea how quick the weather can change very quick at times. However, from here they could walk towards the isle of Ameland at low tide preferable with a guide.
Image three: dry, wet, muddy. On a windy day like today the current can be very strong. Never cross them with your wellies on.
Image four: looking towards dry land.
Image five: the water is receding. Low tide is coming.

This is a very dynamic area.
A lot of ships have been lost here between the mainland coast and the islands. Wrecks can be seen today by divers and next year they are covered by meters of sand.

The photographs where taken with the Sony a7 and the kit lens in stupid mode (Auto). Developed in Lightroom, slightly. To make things easy, there is a dam leading into the sea to keep one's feet dry. All safe and sound to a certain degree.
