Mudbank between Holwerd and Ameland 2019.
Location: World Heritage Wadden Sea.
Taken with the Sony a7 from the ferry between Ameland and Holwerd.
When I first arrived here in 1983, this mudbank would not be visible at low tide.
Now it is getting green, meaning plants can grow even in this salty environment, but this is nothing new.

Same photograph, but in monochrome.
It is an ode to when I first came here. All was black and white and shades of grey to me.
This is a hostile landscape for both humans and animals.
